Havasupai

So I called and got a little more info on Hava today - they have openings in August or September perty much whenever we want to go. Apparently they sometimes have flash floods in July/August and it's a little cooler in September. The cost is $30 per person plus $12 per person per night camping fee, plus 8% tax. Let me know who can go and when you prefer to go and I'll set it up at the end of the week or early next week. And I agree that camping for a Thursday and Friday night would be best, so Wednesday and Thursday would be getting to the site, Saturday and Sunday would be getting out. And here are a couple more info sites - here and here.

and a special mention to Amber for keeping the ball rolling in my mind with her pic of hava a month or so ago.

holy crap, that was quick.
that's too bad you won't be with us. the more the merrier (and the more to share in gas costs the better, too).

dang. I wish I could go. I've heard really great things about that place. I've never been there before - but, I want to. I'm just pretty sure that I can't get work off for an entire week. Stupid work. Who needs it?
p.s. I'm glad to see that you've got your priorities straight - hating the Lakers and Yankees.
p.p.s. Are you training to run a full marathon? I want to do that. Do you have any suggestions? I can barely run 4 or 5 miles at this point . . . maybe I should start with a 10k.

ouch, 0 for 2 on the hava count. that's OK, travis, you gotta do what you gotta do.
and no, i think i've given up marathons - they're just too much for my poor knees - but i figure i'll keep doing half marathons every once in a while. that's cool you want to get into the running thing. i'd definitely recommend doing some races, and starting smaller is smart. there's just something about the race atmosphere that i love. it's exciting.

Well, I've gotta be in on this one. Besides, it's not a whole week-- it's just 3 days out of 5 that I'd take off work ;) August (depending on what part of the month) might be easier for me with school and what not, but I'll swing September if everyone would prefer that-- I like the sound of going when it's a bit cooler.

i know, i hate to inconvenience the school people, but september sounds like an ideal time to go. we'll see what everybody else thinks.

Maybe by that time I really could go... please keep me informed. I would love it! Even though I probably don't really know any of you, the trip would be worth it!

sweet! it's officially a party. i figure we can reserve an extra spot or 2 for people who aren't quite sure if they can go or not right away.

hey, yeah, if it's in september I might be able to swing it. I didn't think about the fact that I'll be in school, and not working. ha ha. weird.
